Our Technology

ELPRO's technology centres on Industrial Wireless I/O, Gateway Serial and Ethernet products using license-free & licensed radio bands. Our Wireless / Radio Telemetry products are fully integrated, easy to use, easy to configure and are highly reliable.

Our design philosophy utilises the following features:

Our products use transceivers (radio transmitters/receivers) and communicate with each other to control the flow of information. We use radio bands which are particularly advantageous for instrumentation applications; where high data rates are not required and where good penetration radio performance is a significant operating benefit.

We use fixed frequency license-free and licensed channels in frequency bands which offer superior radio signal penetration.

Our radio protocols include security data encryption, multiple addressing levels, error checking, and handshaking and re-try mechanisms. Because we utilise radio transceivers, our wireless products are able to listen and check the radio channel before transmitting.

The ELPRO WIB - Wireless Instrumentation Backbone - offers a plant wide wireless network for connecting instrumentation and control signals. The WIB utilises ELPRO's field-proven 105U & 905U range of license-free radios.

Our products are designed for both unit expandibility along with network expandibility. Wireless I/O units have additonal I/O expansion modules that increase functionality along with extending networking capabilities through easily configured module stations.

Our radio transmissions include system addressing as well as unit addressing as double-security against accidental "cross-talk". Our error checking, handshaking and re-try features provide a very high degree of protection against transmission failure - and if there is communications failure, we provide multiple levels of alarm.
